Description Klein& Hoffman is seeking a talented and hardworking Architectural Engineering Associate with a passion for unique buildingsand problem-solving abilities to add to our team. This position will be responsible for providing services in the following areas:building diagnostics and rehabilitation of building facades, roofs, plazas, waterproofing and windows.
In accordance with Illinois pay transparency laws, we are providing a good faith estimate of the salary range for this position. The anticipated salary for this role is [$79,000- $125,000] based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Employees may also be eligible for additional compensation, including bonuses and benefits. This estimate is subject to change based on business needs and market conditions. This position is considered a salaried exempt position, technical salaried exempt staff are eligible to earn additional compensation for authorized billable hours in excess of 40 billable hours at 1.0 times the hourly rate.
Primary Responsibilities - Will have direct communications with both Clients and Contractors
- Project Management skills. Able to work on multiple projects with various team members
- Conduct on-site investigations to document existing conditions and determine cause(s) of problems in existing building enclosures
- Document existing building enclosure conditions including photographing and hand-sketching
- Perform field testing utilizing a variety of testing equipment and instrumentation
- Researches and identifies technical and code related issues
- Organizes field data to facilitate analysis and problem solving
- Prepare reports inclusive of repair recommendations and cost estimates
- Prepares construction documents including drawings and technical specifications
- Reviews contractor submittals
- Perform construction related field visits to designate work and observe repairs in progress
- Prepares site visit reports and develops responses to requests for information
- Provide other typical construction administration related services
- Participates in professional organizations and networking events
Qualifications - Master's degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering (Structural Emphasis) or related field
- Licensed Architect preferred, or licensed PE or SE with relative experience considered
- 3 - 6 plus years of practical experience with building enclosure assessment, design, and repair
- Strong computer skills including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- An interest in building enclosure, field testing, and building restoration
- Working knowledge of any/all the building systems including but not limited to masonry concrete facades, curtainwall and thin stone cladding, windows and storefronts, stucco and EIFS, roofing, and waterproofing
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
Physical Requirements - Ability to perform inspections of buildings and other structures, both visually and with instruments
- Able to safely use and/or work on scaffolding equipment
- Able to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 30 lbs.
- Able to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Able to work from various heights
