Job Summary:

The DMV Title Clerk is responsible for preparing, processing, and submitting vehicle title and registration documents in compliance with state regulations. This role ensures accurate and timely handling of paperwork for new and used vehicle sales, trade-ins, and wholesale transactions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and familiar with DMV procedures and automotive documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and process vehicle title and registration paperwork for new and used car sales, trade-ins, lease buyouts, and wholesale deals.
Submit title applications to the appropriate Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and follow up on the status of pending documents.
Ensure compliance with state and local vehicle registration laws and dealership policies.
Maintain accurate records of all title transactions and documentation.
Resolve title issues such as lien releases, duplicate titles, and corrections.
Process and submit payoffs for trade-in vehicles and ensure titles are obtained from lenders.
Communicate with customers, financial institutions, and DMV offices to resolve title-related questions and delays.
Handle confidential information with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
Track and report status of all vehicle titles and registrations to management.
Perform clerical duties such as data entry, filing, and maintaining logs or databases.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or additional training in administrative work is a plus.
1–2 years of experience in title processing or a related administrative role, preferably in the automotive industry.
Strong knowledge of DMV regulations and title processing procedures.
