ABOUT MOUNT ZION

The Mt. Zion Baptist Church is a Word-centered ministry, designed to evangelize the lost at any cost, equip and empower the people of God, and provide holistic ministry within the Nashville community and worldwide. The Mount Zion membership stands at 33,000 with an average annual growth rate of approximately 2,000. In a typical environment, the church holds four weekly services across three locations, special recordings, and virtual streaming across the globe. Bishop Joseph W. The ideal candidate is someone who possesses an advanced level of skill and experience working in high school ministry including:

  • Deepening your faith in Jesus Christ while making a tangible impact.
  • Embrace a clear calling to youth ministry, driven by a passion for serving students.
  • Bring your expertise with at least 5 years of youth ministry service and volunteerism; a related bachelor's degree.
  • Be a visionary leader, planner, and calculated risk-taker, ready to make a significant difference in the lives of students in the Nashville community.
  • Grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ who empowers others to become disciples.
  • Utilize your engaging communication skills to quickly build rapport with students, excelling in teaching, leading, and planning.

 

PRINCIPLE FUNCTION:

The High School Pastor is responsible for the growth, care, and biblical education of our teens ranging from grades 9-12. They are to ensure a professional, safe, and effective operation of our High School Youth ministry program.

The High School Pastor will lead lessons of God's Love, God's Word, and fellowship with the teens. It is our goal to lay a foundation that will keep teens not only interested in coming to church but also develop a lifelong understanding of what it means to be a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. The most essential function of the High School Pastor is to continue to grow in his or her own relationship with Jesus Christ through personal devotions, bible study, fellowship, and service. They should exhibit the qualities from I Timothy 3:1-7, and manage all activities, programs, curriculum, budgets, and staff for the High School Youth Group.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include, but are not limited to, the following:

Spiritual Leadership:

  • Lead and guide high school students in their spiritual journey within our congregation.
  • Deliver impactful and relevant biblical messages tailored to the needs of teens and young adults.
  • Foster the youth's personal relationship with God through encouragement and support.
  • Actively participate in and support church worship services.
  • Enhance our program by creating engaging services, on-campus Bible studies, sharing groups, and fellowship events.
  • Implement a metric-based system to support and guide students as they grow in their faith.
  • Represent our church by serving on various committees within the denomination and community organizations.
  • Create and manage engaging social media content, ensuring active communication with teams, participants, and members.

Discipleship and Education:

  • Mentor and disciple the teens individually or in small groups.
  • Equip them with the knowledge and tools to apply their faith in daily life.

Community Engagement:

  • Build a welcoming and inclusive space where local youth, both members and guests, can connect and thrive.
  • Plan and promote engaging social events, outings, and community service activities.
  • Cultivate a keen sense of belonging and community within the church.
  • Create service and mission projects that inspire youth to grow in their service to the Lord.
  • Keep parents informed and involved through regular communications and parent groups.
  • Attend and support local high school and homeschool events, fostering relationships within the education community.

Outreach and Evangelism:

  • Develop strategies for disciplining youth within the local community who may not be affiliated with the church.
  • Engage in evangelistic efforts to share the Christian faith with non-believing youth.
  • Plan and coordinate camps, conferences, retreats, and trips.

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with other church leaders, such as the Senior Pastor, Pastor of College Ministry, and worship leaders, to ensure a comprehensive approach to ministry.
  • Preserve the culture of the program by encouraging teamwork and mutual support, providing leadership, and nurturing members who work in the department.
  • Attend staff meetings and retreats and participate in the church's overall vision and mission.
  • Recruit, train, and equip key people to work as High school advisors.
  • Meet regularly with leadership for team building and planning purposes.

 

Administrative Duties:

  • Oversee the budget and resources dedicated to the Youth Ministry (Teens).
  • Set and achieve goals by prioritizing programs, managing facility use, planning budgets, delegating tasks, and regularly evaluating progress.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance, membership, and program participation.
  • Utilize church systems and databases for tracking metrics, registrations, attendance, and student information.
  • Function as a liaison between our Bishop and the high school students of the church.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
