Position Summary:

Welcome to theDepartment of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Deb laboratories ( areseeking a research assistant interested in working and gain experience in thearea of Molecular Biology of Cancer. Weare proud to provide research and learning environment that is moderate in size,not too big and not too small, with an atmosphere that is conducive toone-on-one interactions among all members of the laboratory and Massey CancerCenter including basic and clinical scientists. With state-of-the-artfacilities and instrumentation, our faculty, students and trainees are equippedto perform world-class research and robust, comprehensive educationalopportunities.

Position Responsibilities:

• Perform assigned research work as well as routine tasks in a research environment
• Assist in performing assigned laboratory tasks without constant supervision
• Assist staff in laboratory work
• Clean and stock supplies to laboratories, clean glassware, maintain inventory, perform assays, set up and conduct experiments
• Must be able to organize work, collect and analyze data, makecalculations, prepare reports, keep records, and make independent decisions
• Ability to complete assigned special projects with minimal supervision

Required Qualifications:

• Higher education degree in one of the relevant scientific fields such as Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biology, Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology, etc. Relevant coursework as well as knowledge of lab equipment and procedures
• Must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as an hourly employee at VCU
