HISTORY & CURRENT

Christ the Rock Community Church (CRCC) began its journey many years ago as Christ the Rock Church and evolved into its current form in 1993. After holding services in a theater, a storefront, and a high school, CRCC finally built its current property in 2000. Since then, CRCC has thrived as a vibrant community of believers, always focused on its vision and mission to lead people into an ever-growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ in Cooper City and beyond.

Under the leadership of Senior Pastor Darrell M. Owens and a dedicated Board of Directors and staff, CRCC is renowned for its unfiltered and unapologetic proclamation of the Word of God. The church serves a diverse congregation from various cultures and backgrounds, offering traditional, contemporary, and modern-styled services that cater to multiple generations. By emphasizing the core foundational truths of the faith, CRCC has made a significant impact on the surrounding community and beyond.

The church offers three services on Sundays at 9:00am, 10:30am and 12:00pm and averages just under 1000 people in weekly attendance. Children's ministry is offered at all three services whereas Student Ministry is currently being offered at the latter two services.

It is evident that the people of CRCC emphasize the important of a relationship with God and relationships with people. Everything they do is for the purpose of helping those relationships thrive. When you are at CRCC, you will experience a welcoming environment, relevant teaching and dynamic music as they worship God through song, authentic people, and many opportunities to simply have fun!

YOUTH MINISTRY (AKA "SHIFT")

Number of Students: 100-125 Middle and High School Students (weekly). Approximately 70-80 at the 10:30am service and 20-30 at the Noon service.

Number of Volunteers: Approximately 20

Schedule (Monthly Rhythm on Sundays):

  • Week one: Large Group teaching
  • Week two: Short teaching and breakouts (divided primarily by grade level)
  • Week three: Family Gathering (everyone in "Big Church" (student ministry typically sits together
  • Week four: Short teaching and breakouts

Events: There are special events/outreaches that take place about once every 6-8 weeks throughout the calendar year (i.e. field day, bowling, etc.)

Curriculum: The Youth Director has typically designed/developed the scope and sequence of the teaching, currently they are loosely oriented around " Studies on the Go. "

Staff: The Youth Director will also oversee and partner with the other paid youth staff, including the Youth Coordinator.

Mission: Christ the Rock Community Church's mission in the youth ministry is for students to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This mission is pursued through the guidance of the Holy Spirit in inspired teachings, fellowship, small group assemblies, special event gatherings, and worship. The goal is to inspire students to live lives filled with Christs love and direction.

CHALLENGE & OPPORTUNITY

DRIVE AND WILLING TO TRY

Staff at Christ the Rock Community Church (CRCC) need to have a roll up your sleeves and make it happen mindset. The Youth Director, after taking time to assess, will need to try new strategies to reach more people. CRCC is a place that is optimistic, confident, and creative in its ministry approach, and these characteristics should be reflected in the Youth Ministry.

The new staff member should have a strong work ethic that matches the drive and pace of the rest of the CRCC team.

COLLABORATIVE, FUN & HEALTHY

As the Youth Director, this role will serve alongside the Youth Coordinator and other support staff to effectively reach students. CRCC staff values collaboration, not only among the Youth team but with all staff and departments. This is a team that supports each other; silos do not work. There will be great communication and teamwork with the Children's Ministry team to ensure a seamless handoff between a thriving kids ministry and a growing youth ministry.

The team at CRCC also emphasizes doing life together and prioritizing one's own family.

SOLID FOUNDATION BUT READY FOR STRATEGIC CHANGES

The new Youth Director will have the opportunity to build upon a solid foundation. The previous Director was in the role for five years, leaving behind a healthy ministry that, however, has lacked "the it factor" for quite some time and has operated with a status-quo mindset.

This new leader will have ample opportunity to assess and reimagine what the ministry can look like. If the new leader is gifted with strategy or ideation, the sky will be the limit. If they are administrative and thoughtful, there is much low-hanging fruit. If the new Director is relational at the core, opportunities to build community are limitless.

SCALABLE VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP

As CRCC Youth has a great opportunity to grow with a new leader, it is imperative that the new Director continues to develop a ministry structure that is scalable to grow with the church. This growth primarily happens through the recruitment, training, and sustaining of the leadership team. CRCC has a strong group of about 20 volunteers who seek to be equipped with effective tools and methods to meet students where they are, partner with parents through the teen years, and equip students to love Jesus and others well.
