The advisor holistically guides students to plan, learn, reflect, and engage in ways appropriate for their educational path, career, and personal development. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide academic advising and career services for persistence and retention purposes, aligning with the College's mission, 4DX methodology, and Achieve the Dream initiatives. Advises program participants over the entire college district involving personal and educational issues related to their academic and life goals. Determines or develops a specific course of action, or makes recommendations or referrals to internal programs and outside agencies if required. Assists the Director of Advising & Career Services with establishing goals and objectives for the Academic Advising program. At the discretion of the Director, may be assigned to a specific CCC student group and/or Flagstaff campus/center such as, and not limited to Career and Technical Education (CTE), CCC2NAU, and other identified cohorts (Athletics, Transfer, Veteran's). Collects data, track outcomes, and produce reports for targeted student populations. Monitors participants' progress within a particular educational program and formulates academic plans in Degree Works audit software. Works with students to align goals to completion. Maintains up to date knowledge about the college's programs and requirements; utilizes articulation software from transfer institutions regarding course and program transferability, admissions and graduation requirements. Informs students about alternatives, limitations and possible consequences of academic decisions (e.g. adding, dropping and withdrawing from courses, change of program, major and/or transfer institution). Establish retention efforts with student cohort that may include email and phone outreach. Provides career advising and career planning using the college's career assessment/exploration software (Pipeline AZ) Provides unofficial evaluation of transfer transcripts from other academic institutions for possible application to CCC degree programs. Participates in professional development activities to ensure leadership and program development. May require development of training and professional development presentations for internal stakeholders and new hires. Serves as a liaison to external departments, groups, and agencies. Serves on internal committees. Performs other duties as assigned. Assigned Specialization CCC2NAU - Serves CCC and NAU partnership program that allows students to be involved in campus life at both institutions. Duties include advising and additional administrative work to assist in identification and tracking of the 2NAU student population. The position is assigned to the CCC2NAU program and will be supervised by the Director of Advising & Career Services, with a dotted line to CCC2NAU Manager. Advises students with a variety of degree planning tools including pathways and assists with creation and publication of these resources. Uses NAU student information such as Peoplesoft, Salesforce, ACCESS, to track program participants. Provides assistance with transfer to NAU including admission requirements, transfer process, and scholarship eligibility. Knowledge of all CCC and NAU degree requirements to assist program participants with individual degree planning and achievement. Develop training and professional development presentations for internal stakeholders regarding 2NAU pathways at CCC. Assists the Director of Advising and Career Services and CCC2NAU Manager with establishing goals and objectives for the colleges CCC2NAU initiatives. Career Services Plans and organizes seasonal and community job fairs. Oversees the management of the online job board and develops new contacts with external organizations for the purpose of expanding employment opportunities for students and alumni. Partner with local agencies to provide students with employment opportunities and acts as the academic internship lead. Leads college's effort to increase the use of the college's career assessment/exploration software and compiles narratives and statistical data on usage. Develops and presents materials used for providing career advising including training or facilitating career focused workshops for students. Organized student success workshops or activities such as resume, cover letter and career development for students. Monitors, analyzes and evaluates current scope of career services offered through academic advising and plans, implements and facilitates new initiatives under the supervision of director Develop training and professional development presentations for internal stakeholders regarding academic/career pathways at CCC and Pipeline AZ. Assists the Director of Advising and Career Services with establishing goals and objectives for the colleges Career Services Program and utilization of Pipeline AZ. Transfer University liaison with transfer partner institutions. Program coordination of seasonal transfer fairs. Maintains CCC transfer pathways, transfer website and campus visits. Stays up-to-date on transfer partner programs and attends transfer training as a CCC representative. Lead advisor for transfer students. Monitors, analyzes and evaluates transfer programs in academic advising and plans, implements and facilitates new initiatives under the supervision of director Oversees and evaluates transfer programs in academic advising, while planning, implementing, and facilitating new initiatives to enhance these programs, under the supervision of the director. Develop training and professional development presentations for internal stakeholders regarding transfer partnerships and pathways at CCC. Assists the Director of Advising and Career Services with establishing goals and objectives for the colleges Transfer student population. Veteran's Provide single point academic advising for the Veteran student population. Liaison with the Veteran's Services Office and the VA Financial Aid Coordinator. Have a thorough understanding of veteran specific financial aid rules. Develop training and professional development presentations for internal stakeholders regarding Veteran Services at CCC. Assists the Director of Advising and Career Services with establishing goals and objectives for the retention efforts and initiatives of CCC Veteran students. Career and Technical Education (CTE) Advisor (Fourth Street Campus) Collaborate with faculty, industry partners, and community organizations to enhance CTE program offerings and industry alignment. Increase the use of the college's career assessment/exploration software. Develops and presents materials used for providing career advising including training or facilitating career focused workshops for students at Fourth Street. Plans and organizes seasonal and community job fairs at Fourth Street. Organized student success workshops or activities such as resume, cover letter and career development for students at Fourth Street. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of student development, career development, academic advising and retention issues in higher education. Knowledge of community resources and referral processes. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with groups and individuals of differing cultural or socio-economic backgrounds. Teaching and presenting experience to high school and adult learners. Strong written, verbal, analytical and organizational skills. Working knowledge in Microsoft Suite; knowledge in Banner student information system and DegreeWorks audit software is preferred. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education or related field, and two years of directly related experience in student affairs, academic advising, career counseling, or related field within a higher education setting; or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Preferred Master's degree in Student Development, Counseling, Educational Leadership or a related field is preferred. Experience working in a community college. Experience with academic advising in a higher education setting. Experience with tracking systems for monitoring student progress and program requirement compliance. Experience working with culturally diverse students. Experience with student activities and leadership development programs. Experience with retention programs.
