Job Summary:

The Intake Specialist is responsible for client intake, medical record collection and working closely with team members to support clients who access LifeSource for their medical needs.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage incoming patient calls to verify eligibility and gather initial clinical and demographic information
• Collect and organize time-sensitive medical records
• Responsible for entering all required patient information and documentation into appropriate operating systems within prescribed time lines to ensure agencies/customers can proceed with providing services ordered.
• Verifies primary payers for coverage criteria
• Obtains initial pre-certification or authorization for prescribed services as dictated by patient's insurance.
• Researches qualifying reimbursement data in effort to create initial clean claims for third party payers.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure that patients’ needs are met
• Maintain excellent relationship with all levels of contacts within facilities
• Maintain and update procedures and participate in departmental project work
• Provide exemplary customer service

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience
• Customer service oriented including a professional telephone presence
• Experience with electronic medical records
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
• Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task
• Excellent time management skills

· Must have the flexibility to handle fast-paced and challenging situations.

• Strong work ethic with dynamic team environment interaction skills

· The ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

· The ability to work well with others

Physical Requirements : While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to walk occasionally. The individual may occasionally be required to bend or stoop. The individual may occasionally be required to lift objects up to 10 pounds. Work will be performed sitting at a desk in an open office environment. Use of phone, computer, fax, and copier.
